Becca Furman is a skilled litigator who represents major corporations and venture-backed start-ups in complex trade secret and commercial litigation disputes involving cutting edge technology.  Becca is known for her aggressive yet pragmatic representation, ability to distill complex legal and technology concepts for a judge and jury, and focus on tailoring her litigation strategy to meet client goals and budget.

Becca represents clients at all stages of litigation, from pre-suit negotiations and injunctive relief through discovery and trial.  She regularly serves as lead trial counsel in both state and federal courts.

Her representation includes both plaintiff- and defense-side work.  Recent examples include:

• Co-lead counsel defending major technology company in highly technical trade secret matter in Santa Clara Superior Court involving aluminum anodization.  Potential damages were estimated to be approximately $500 million.  The Court granted client’s summary judgment motion in its entirety and completely dismissed the Plaintiff’s claims one month before trial.
• Lead counsel defending former employees of an EV manufacturer against accusations of trade secret theft by a competitor company in California state court.  The case resolved on the eve of summary judgment and after five years of hard-fought litigation.
• Defeated preliminary injunction against technology company’s former-CEO related to claims of trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract, and breach of fiduciary duty.
• Lead trial counsel in defense of one of the world’s largest technology companies against fraud allegations in Florida state court.
• Lead trial counsel in defense of technology company and its employee against trade secrets allegations in the Southern District of Florida.
• Defended eight individuals and entities in California state court in litigation concerning a public/private partnership to restore a portion of the California Delta. In a related matter, Becca also represented a company’s former CEO in his own contractual companies against his former employer.
• Defended a developer of innovative electron microscopes against allegations involving contractual breaches and trade secret misappropriation in federal court.
• Defended a leading software consultant against breach of contract, trade secret misappropriation, and CFAA/CDAFA claims in a multi-week trial in the Eastern District of California.
• Litigated a two-month jury trial against a local school district involving the sexual assault of multiple students at the hands of their teacher.

Becca spends most of her time outside of the office marathon training, taking her two kids to Equator for a flat white and croissant, and planning to read the ever-growing stack of books in her office.
