Tobias Snyder is a skilled civil litigator focusing on commercial disputes. He brings over a decade of experience litigating across a broad range of industries and practice areas, and is admitted to the bars of California and New York.

Tobias attended college and law school at Harvard University, where he served as a staff writer for the Harvard Political Review and interned with the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society. After law school he joined the New York office of a well-respected litigation boutique focusing on complex commercial litigation. His practice involved cases touching on commercial torts, legal malpractice, antitrust, insurance recovery, securities litigation, environmental law, and consumer class actions. He also assisted with two successful petitions to the United States Supreme Court.

In 2011 he transferred to San Francisco, where he continued to practice commercial litigation in state and federal court, including cases involving California’s unfair competition and trade secret laws. He was also part of a three-attorney case team that helped secure a $68 million arbitration judgment for a fuel-cell start-up against a global battery manufacturer.

Tobias later joined the California Department of Justice where he served in the Correctional Law Section, which handles litigation involving California’s penal system. As a deputy attorney general he acted as lead counsel for multiple individual civil rights cases, and also served as the state’s primary brief-writer on a 30-year class action involving California’s prison mental healthcare system.

In his spare time, Tobias enjoys snowboarding near Lake Tahoe and revisiting his hometown roots in Sonoma County. He also helped cofound a non-profit that organizes diverse public policy discussions for civic-minded laypersons.
